Denver Public Schools continues to complete the master plan for the Paul Sandoval Campus as LOA Architecture completes third building at Northfield High School for Denver Public Schools

Denver Public Schools continues to complete the master plan for the Paul Sandoval Campus. The Commons Building, the third building at Northfield High School on the Paul Sandoval Campus was completed and ready for the start of the 2016 school year. This multi-use, 1,900 square foot building is located on the northeast portion of the existing quad in fulfillment of the Master Plan completed by LOA Architecture in 2012. This facility was designed for multiple uses with flexibility and expansion being paramount. It contains a warming kitchen with a seating area and stage. Restrooms have been designed and constructed to accommodate a future art wing. Two overhead garage doors open up onto a south facing patio. A large enclosed service area is to the east of the building and is also designed for future expansion.

The exterior envelope is brick masonry that matches the two colors and sizes of brick that were used on the previous buildings. A high bay is located in the middle of the floor plan, where the seating is located, and has a clerestory made out of insulated translucent panels for daylighting. The flooring is comprised of two toned stained concrete.

The school project is on a 20-acre site on the southeast corner of 56th Avenue and Central Park Boulevard. LOA Architecture is the Architect of Record in association with TreanorHL. Golden Triangle Construction is the general contractor.
